Sdp promise solar power on every Nigerian roof

*Adebayo Promises 11-15KW Solar Power On Every Nigerian Roof Within 11 Months If Elected 2027*

_SDP Presidential candidate says Nigeria can generate 32,000MW, create jobs, and end blackouts through mass solar rollout_

*ABUJA* – The Presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party, *Adewole Adebayo*, has rolled out what may be the most ambitious energy promise of the 2027 election cycle, pledging to put *11 to 15 kilowatts of solar power on every roof in Nigeria within 11 months* of assuming office.

Adebayo made the declaration during an interview on *Arise Television’s Prime Time* on Monday, where he outlined his plan to fix Nigeria’s decades-long electricity crisis through decentralized, rooftop solar power.

*“Every Roof, Every Home”*

According to the SDP flagbearer, Nigerians have suffered too long from grid collapses, estimated billing, and generator fumes. His solution: take power off the central grid and put it in people’s homes.

“I promise that between 11 to 15 kilowatts of solar power will be put on every roof within 11 months,” Adebayo said.

“That is enough to run your home, your shop, your freezer. The national grid will become a backup. When your solar cluster has a challenge, then you can draw from the grid.”

He said the 11KW-15KW target was chosen because it can power lighting, fans, TVs, fridges, and even small business equipment without relying on diesel or PHCN.

*Factories, Jobs, and Local Training*

Adebayo said the project will not be about importing finished products. Instead, his government will *build solar-panel and lithium battery factories across the country*.

He disclosed that he has already started experimenting with the model in his hometown, where he claimed to have *trained about 2,000 youths* to install and maintain solar systems.

“We will partner with China, Turkey and India to establish solar-panel factories here,” he said. “But Nigerians will be the ones to work in them. Nigerians will be the ones to install and maintain them.”

He added that he currently *manufactures solar panels and lithium batteries himself*, while inverters are sourced from outside the country for now.

The candidate projected that solar clusters across the 36 states and FCT could generate *up to 32,000 megawatts* of electricity — far above Nigeria’s current installed grid capacity of less than 5,000MW.

*Oil, Aviation, and Jobs*

Beyond power, Adebayo also spoke on the economy. He pledged to *prioritize domestic refining* and to fight crude oil theft, which he claimed still costs Nigeria *up to 900,000 barrels per day*.

“Recovering that oil alone will increase supply without government spending one extra kobo,” he argued.

He also said his administration would make *strategic government investments in aviation and manufacturing* through operating and maintenance contracts, rather than selling off national assets.

On education and jobs, Adebayo argued that investing heavily in electricity and education would solve unemployment because “when there is light, businesses run, and when people are educated, they can run those businesses.”

*What People Are Saying*

The pledge has already sparked debate online. Supporters called it “the bold thinking Nigeria needs,” while energy analysts questioned the logistics, cost, and 11-month timeline for a country of over 220 million people.

As of press time, the SDP has not released a detailed cost breakdown or funding plan for the solar project.

With campaigns for 2027 expected to kick off next year, Adebayo is clearly positioning electricity as his signature campaign issue.
